About DMSRC Montessori School Dar es Salaam
The Montessori Method, founded by Dr. Maria Montessori, is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children from birth to adulthood. Our curriculum is designed not just to teach subjects, but to foster independence, critical thinking, responsibility, and a deep, intrinsic love for learning.
We achieve this by providing a meticulously prepared environment where children are free to choose their own work and learn at their own pace, guided by trained directresses (teachers).
Leading Montessori School in Tanzania
To be the leading early-years educational institution in our community, recognized for fostering ,independent, compassionate, and globally-aware citizens who possess a deep, self-directed passion for knowledge.
Our mission is to nurture the curiosity and wonder that inspires learning so that children develop a deep understanding of the foundational skills essential to fulfilling their human potential.
We achieve this by creating a dynamic and nurturing Montessori environment that empowers children in their most critical phase of development (the Absorbent Mind).
Montessori Programs in Dar es Salaam
Our program is divided into two distinct, carefully crafted environments to meet the unique developmental needs of each age group.
This environment focuses on the transition from babyhood to independent childhood. This is the period of the "Absorbent Mind," where the child absorbs information effortlessly from their surroundings.

Coming SoonIntegrated Student Support Services. We are proud to offer a comprehensive Special Education Needs (SEN) Unit designed to support the diverse learning requirements of our students.
Coming SoonAuthentic Montessori Curriculum
Our AMI-certified Montessori curriculum provides comprehensive early childhood education through hands-on learning materials and child-led exploration.
Advanced skills like sewing and food preparation, leading to a strong sense of purpose, order, and self-confidence.
Direct engagement with materials that isolate concepts (size, color, weight, texture). This provides the concrete foundation for mathematics and logic.
A concrete understanding of numbers, quantity, and the decimal system using materials like the Golden Beads. Children organically move toward mastery of the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
We emphasize that writing precedes reading. Children build words phonetically using the Moveable Alphabet, achieving literacy at their own, natural pace.
In-depth exploration of geography (maps, flags), botany, zoology, history, and basic science, fostering a global perspective.

While Thecla focuses on the beautiful Montessori educational vision, I ensure that the entire operation from governance to growth is flawless!
My journey to this role has been centered on building effective, well-managed institutions. I earned a Bachelor of Law (LLB) and a Master of Arts in Project Planning and Management (MA PPM). These aren't just degrees; they're the tools I use every day to safeguard the school's legal integrity, manage our finances responsibly, and plan for the strategic growth of both the Montessori program and the Swimming Club.
I also bring over 8 years of experience working as a Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Manager with NGOs on vital USAID community-funded projects covering everything from Public health to Advocacy. This background taught me the profound importance of community engagement and ensures our commitment to health, safety, and clear communication is strong.
My passion is making sure DMSRC is the most ethically run, compliant, and sustainable school possible. I believe the best education is delivered by the best-run organization. It is a genuine privilege to serve our community, and I look forward to partnering with all our families to see our children thrive!

Primary Lead Teacher (Guide)
My name is Suzette, and I am the Primary Lead Teacher (Guide) for the 3β6 year classroom!
My journey into education was driven by a belief in the childβs amazing capacity to learn independently. Holding an Early Childhood Certification and having spent 5 years immersed in the Montessori curriculum, I love to observe the subtle cues children give when they are ready for a new lesson.
I specialize in the Practical Life Exercise, Sensorial, Language and Mathematics areas my absolute favourite parts of the curriculum! Thereβs nothing more rewarding than guiding a child from holding those concrete Golden Beads to understanding the abstract concept of a thousand. Itβs like watching a lightbulb turn on!
My role is to be the gentle link between your child and the prepared environment. Iβm here to guide them, share in their triumphs, and patiently support them through their struggles, ensuring they develop the focus and mastery necessary for their next great discovery.

Assistant Teacher
Hello! Iβm Doreen, and I work as the Assistant Teacher, helping our guides keep the DMSRC classrooms running smoothly and beautifully.
I hold an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certification and have 2 years of experience working alongside Montessori teachers. Iβm focused on maintaining the grace, order, and calm that makes our classrooms such a wonderful space for concentrated work.
I spend much of my time in the Practical Life area, where I help the children master those little things that build big confidence like pouring their own water or sweeping up a spill. These skills arenβt just chores; they are the foundation of independence, and I love seeing the pride on a child's face when they realize, "I can do it myself!"
My greatest joy is being a constant, supportive presence in the room, making sure every child feels seen, loved, and fully capable of the great work they are doing.

The multi-age setting (3-6 years) is a core feature of authentic Montessori education. It fosters a natural learning community where younger children are inspired by older children, and older children develop leadership skills and solidify knowledge by helping younger ones. It mirrors real-life family dynamics.
No. We offer a respectful approach to toilet independence within the Toddler Community, viewing it as a natural developmental milestone. However, children entering the Primary class (age 3+) are generally expected to be independent in the washroom.
In Montessori education, writing precedes reading. Children first develop fine motor skills through Practical Life work, then learn letter sounds (phonetics) using sandpaper letters, and build words with the Moveable Alphabet. This concrete, hands-on approach leads naturally to joyful reading fluency.
